Putting the Student in Student Athlete

Why are you called a Student-athlete and not an Athlete-student?

As I head off today to present a recruiting talk at Siena College, I will ask the audience-

What comes first- choosing a career direction, choosing a college major, or choosing a college?

And while 90% will intuitively get it right, choosing a career direction, most people don’t follow through on that. Why? Because they don’t know how to. So consider this-

How important to you is getting college studies to support your career direction?

When would you like to determine your career direction?  your college major?

College should be an investment in your life success and satisfaction. You can be certain that college provides the great benefit that you intend it to be. How? Choose your career direction first. Then choose your correct college study program to support it. Then choose the right college for your studies.

We have a great resource available for your assistance- Marla Brady, Ed.D, Career Direction Professional, www.marlabrady.com visit her website and email her at marla@marlabrady.com . She will put you on the path towards college success and  career satisfaction. I guarantee it.

For collegiate student-athletes, you have more control over your academic success than your on-field playing success. You cannot have one without the other if you want to be forever defined as a successful college student-athlete.
